11 jähriger Wallach Bretton Woods x Sir Donnerhall

- The search for a needle in a haystack -

For sale is an 11-year-old gelding sired by Bretton Woods x Sir Donnerhall. Height approximately 175 cm, trained up to the advanced class.

I personally took him over from a poor living situation over 2 years ago, and since then, we have experienced a lot together. He is fundamentally a horse that wants to be loved and "pampered," a horse where riding should not be the only focus.

I have discovered this over time. I grew up in equestrian sports and had competition ambitions that I cannot pursue with him, as he often gets in his own way. This is likely due to his past...

He is trained in dressage up to the advanced class, but he has not been further developed for just over a year.

He jumped series changes under my trainer, and Pi/Pa are also no problem if the rider knows what they are doing. Generally, he is never nasty under the rider, but he is definitely not suitable for a beginner, as he can be a bit more challenging to handle in general.

We have tried a lot, and we are currently on the best way to achieve a positive movement pattern with bitless riding. I believe he could also work great in the field, but I am a bit anxious and have thus never taken him out. If he has a safe and calm horse with him, this will certainly not be a problem, as he is very oriented towards other horses.

Due to a longer break (not health-related—I simply wanted to give him some time for himself), he currently lacks some muscle, which we are in the process of building up.

I had him thoroughly vetted in 2023 (including neck and back) and recently had the skull X-rayed. Everything is clear. 27 X-ray images from the previous vetting are available and can be forwarded if needed.

He should be kept in a herd; staying in a box overnight is not a problem. This and plenty of hay are very important for him in summer and winter, as he is otherwise not balanced.

He is very oriented towards other horses and feels more secure the more horses are around him (for example, riding alone in the arena is more difficult, as he develops an inner restlessness! He is not nasty, but there is no need to provoke it! - this relates to him getting in his own way).

I am looking for a "forever" home, so the place is more important to me than the price.

If one has no competition ambitions, accepts him as he is, and truly thinks horse-first, one has a loyal companion trained up to the S class.

If someone understands him even better than I do and is willing to invest more time and patience in this horse, they will have a very well-trained dressage horse with minor limitations.

I will only let him go if it is a 1000% fit, as this is not an urgent sale. I simply want a life for him that I cannot provide.
